When I’m not traumatizing myself by watching BBC crime dramas, I’m offsetting that anxiety-inducing activity with podcasts about healing trauma. That’s right, this is as smooth a transition as I could come up with on a Monday afternoon. Without further ado, may I suggest you tune into LET’S PROCESS THIS with Melinda Hill TONIGHT (and future Mondays evenings) from 5-7 PST. The idea for the comedian/writer/actress’s “pandemic passion project” comes at the time when a large portion of the population finds themselves in dire need of some mental solace. Let’s Process This explores “overcoming or processing trauma and how that informs the creative process, with the intention of inspiring and empowering audiences to know we’re not defined by what happened to us but rather by what we do with what happens to us.” And the podcast is enhanced with some much needed humor to boot!
Per Melinda, “doing it so low budget in (a) dining room is actually healing the trauma of my perfectionism…just the idea of doing something because it sounds fun without know how to do it…is both terrifying and freeing.” As it should be! Because IG live is also imperfect, the platform will shut down spontaneously which adds to the drama of introducing a new guest! Some of those guests have included Liz Feldman, creator and showrunner of Netflix’s DEAD TO ME, Danny Zuker, best known for his Emmy Award winning work as a writer and executive producer of ABC’s MODERN FAMILY, Mary Lynn Rajskub, actress and comedian best known for playing Chloe O’Brian in 24 and Elizabeth in Paul Thomas Anderson’s PUNCH DRUNK LOVE, and John Di Maggio, who played Bender on Futurama, Jake on Adventure Time and King Zog on Disenchanted. Impressive, no? Joining Melinda TODAY with will be guests:
Banned on YouTube & Quarantine Cabaret’s neo-burlesque performer Michelle L’amour
plus Billy Idol guitarist/Royal Machines co-founder/ fine art painter Billy Morrison
novelist Neda Disney
& director Brian Dannelly
Don’t miss the show and Melinda’s co-host and kitty Stardust!
Mentions: Tune in Today 5-7p PST. The podcast is filmed “live in front of a live audience” on Instagram Live on Monday nights and is released the next day as a podcast. A portion of the podcast proceeds goes to different charities, beginning with Downtown Women’s Center. Be sure to Venmo @realmelindahill! You can send questions for the guests to LPTpod@gmail prior to showtime.
