Calm down, this isn’t “the bad thing” between Super Hans and Jeremy from the British sitcom Peep Show. You may or may not know that last November New York comedian Michael Cruz Kayne (Late Night With Seth Meyers, High Maintenance) had one of those rare experiences on Twitter. Yes, I’m talking the positive kind. On the tenth anniversary of his infant son’s death, he revealed it was time to share thoughts he’d only previously shared with his immediate family. Those genuine thoughts on grief unleashed a cascade of responses connecting Kayne to a “whole universe of grieving people.” That wealth of genuine reactions garnered some attention. Twitter named the tweet one of the tweets of the year. Kayne was interviewed by news outlets. He went on to make his late night debut and this spring he will be starting a podcast on grief with Irony Point (Astronomy Club, Amy Schumer Show).
Kayne ALSO created a special on the subject of grief which debuted when he headlined the Asian Comedy Festival. Now YOU can see that special THE BAD THING this very evening at Union Hall. Kayne will bring the audience an unapologetic hour of the sadness he experienced intertwined with joy that can shine through when some healing (sometimes crass) humor guiding the way. Your opener for the evening will be the talented Josh Sharp (2 Dope Queens, Comedy Central). Come out for a cathartic night of honest sharing.
