Second City’s fourth annual, 2019 Diversity in Comedy Festival, is taking places October 17, 18, 19, 20. The fest will, once again, feature a diverse roster of performers proficient in the disciplines of sketch, improv, stand-up, and video. In addition, there will be original pilots, comedy shorts, panels, workshops and more to sink your entertainment teeth into. One of the acts to pay attention to this year is The Black Pantherettes, NYC’s all-black female sketch comedy troupe who will be bringing their “shea butter-filled, musical, sketch comedy show” to the event. The group isn’t afraid to take on any touchy subject, and will be showing off original raps and music parodies with topics ranging from politics to pop culture. The group was founded by writer-director Lauren Vernea (UCB, The PIT). The FIVE member team of Vernea, Sheree Grate, Kezia Bernard-Nau, Tamyko Vassel, and Alexis Braxton has performed at the Harlem Comedy Festival, NY Sketch Fest, UCB NYC, and is a resident at The People’s Improv Theater NYC (The PIT). You Can see their LADFC show at the NBC Stage! Don’t miss the show Saturday, October 19th!
