“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life” by telling you about a quote-along, sing-along midnight movie event called the PURPLE RAIN PARTICIPATORY EXPERIENCE! It all started with a tweet by Black Rock Coalition co-founder Vernon Reid (Living Colour) in which he proclaimed that the film Purple Rain should be given the
same reverence and cult status as midnight-screening legend Rocky
Horror Picture Show. Well, Reid’s urging has now become a reality. This Friday, October 11th at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Brooklyn, come be one with the 1984 American rock musical drama film that hoisted Prince’s career to new heights. Special guest host Chinisha Scott (writer, filmmaker,
and dedicated Prince enthusiast) will be whipping the audience up during the film using fun props, open mics, Purple Rain-inspired food/drink items, and a pre-roll viewing that will make “The Kid” proud. Come be a part of this debut Purple Rain experience!
Mentions: Show 11:30pm. “The Taste” & “Purple Carpet VIP” Tickets HERE. The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Brooklyn is located at 445 Albee Square W #4, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Founded by guitarist Vernon Reid, journalist
