Even after taking a few art history classes I still walk by some paintings at the museum and scratch my head wondering, “why, but why, but, really, WHY?!” This Friday, August 23rd at Caveat, come make yourself feel a little better about your art knowledge with MODERN WHITNEY. Hosted by Matt Hartin (UCB) & Akmal Tajihan (UCB), your probing art questions will be answered as a panel of comedians
Randall Otis (The Daily Show)
Sophie Bramnick (The PIT)
Jess Fuchs (Jane Don’t)
will try and breakdown and give meaning to what particular artworks represent (if anything). After their analysis, an actual art expert will reveal what the art actually stands for and what impact it’s had culturally. So in other words, they’ll be a lot of “pwning” going on. And if that wasn’t fun enough, the audience will have a chance to have their own artwork deciphered live on stage. Bad art critiques never had worldwide consequences before, right?! Never. This month’s theme is 20th Century Art,so come get your art on, kids!
