Death, well, it will come for us all eventually, but for now, let’s enjoy the life we’ve got! This June, wrap your head around it’s inevitability with THE LIVING ROOM: A Comedy of Grief, co-written by Amrita Dhaliwal & Gemma Soldati. The interactive show filled with physical comedy and absurdist techniques tells the tale of two Accountants of Death who are obsessed with recording the death toll. Along the way, occupational hazards wear on them, and they are soon confronted with learning the meaning of life and death. The creators have used their own recent experiences with grief, as well as the little talked about it’s “secretive nature” in our culture, to fuel their performance. Through the tragedy and comedy of “The Living Room”, Dhaliwal and Soldati will attempt to crack open the myths and taboo that abound in this deathly realm.
Amrita Dhaliwal is currently an ensemble member of the improv comedy show “The Murge,” who’s work we’ve featured often. She also hosts the live show, “Indian Wedding,” and was a featured actor in the 2017 CBS Diversity Showcase. Gemma Soldati recently produced the comedy show “Amateur Burl-esque-ish,” and, was an ensemble member of “The Murge.” Come see them in action at LA’s Theatre of Note, as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Dates below! After the LA festival you can catch “The Living Room” at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August!
