This Sunday at Q.E.D. in Astoria, in association with the Queens Arts Council, THE SYMPOSIUM Academic Stand-up will present a Persons with Disabilities Showcase. The research-inspired comedy show will feature a diverse, intersectional set of comedians with disabilities ready to make you laugh. The comics will use comedy to bring to light what it means to be disabled, covering topics like sexuality, work, and the day to day living in our modern world. The show will be hosted by Tristan Miller (Manic Impressive, Positive and Negative Podcast) with performances by:
Walei Sabry (The City of New York’s First Digital Accessibility Coordinator)
Andria Alefhi (Deaf is Not a Dirty Word)
Sammie James (Queerly Comedic)
Ian Goldstein (New York Magazine)
Pamela Rae Schuller (Buzzfeed, Mayim Bialik’s Grok Nation)
Ellen Uhlmann
Hugh Chatfield
The show is produced by Kyle Marian and Ian Scott Goldstein, with a grant from the Queens Arts Council helping out with ASL comedy interpretation, audio description, and live closed captioning for the theater goers. Laugh and learn, kids! Get those tickets NOW!
