You may be familiar with the concept of “The Singularity.” If not, let me have a crack at it. When we think about the theory, we’re usually talking about a “technological singularity” where artificial intelligence would become so powerful it would eventually be indistinguishable from our own brain power. In American author, computer scientist, inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil’s book The Singularity is Near, he foretold of the imminent event that would bring about the super-AI which would make it impossible to conceptualize VR. There’s just one problem. Kurzweil failed to include “the total slackers, idiots, and dopes” that would “cross over into this digitized future.” Ooopsie! Luckily, The Singularity is Here (part buddy comedy, part sci-fi exploration) accounts for this by following two knuckle draggers, Marty (William Banfield, Drifters) and Rocco (Rome Davis, Pepperoni Zone), who unwittingly end up in this techno-utopia. A blend of high-energy live performance with creative multimedia elements, The Singularity is Here includes performances by
Maya Sharma (MTV Live, TV Dinner)
Adam Bangser (Wet Tux)
Amir Kahn (UCB)
Ian Lockwood (Rude Comedy)
& Matthew Liner (Annoyance NY)
Is this but a fool’s endeavor? BUT OF COURSE! Come take a look into the future!
