Apparently, 5:5:1 was rejected by literally every network that makes comedy, but, it debuted in the #1 slot on iTunes, and, thankfully, we didn’t ignore it! TODAY ANDREW SCHULZ’s (Benders, Sneaky Pete, Crashing) debut album “5:5:1 – A Comedy Experience” hits your eardrums, care of 800 Pound Gorilla Records, kids. The MTV’s Guy Code star and The Brilliant Idiots co-host dives deep into controversial subject matter with great skill, bringing you five different sets from five different clubs, namely Comic Strip Live, Stand Up NY, the Comedy Cellar, NY Comedy Club, and “the cellar” @ Village Underground. The intro of 511 sets the scene for it’s listeners,
“It’s normal for us to perform at five different clubs and do five different sets, all in one night, And that’s exactly what I’m about to show you right now: a true New York City comedy experience.”
Well, he wasn’t lying! Not only do you get to hear sets from multiple venues, but, there’s no doubt, the comedian has conquered the first album challenge when you hear the infectious laughter of New York’s live audiences, overpowering you through every track. From interactions with wildlife in a national park to an intimate death-defying sky diving session to figuring out the opposite sex, this album has a little something for everyone. My personal favorite track from the album has to be Quit Atheism because, like Andrew, flying makes me scream for a high power every single trip! Enjoy 511 while you get your 420 on this weekend!
