Nothing strikes a hoarder’s dread in me more than when I hear the words “limited edition” or “limited run.” How nouveau capitalist is that? I KNOW! Thursday, August 31st to Saturday, September 2nd you can see the musical comedy, Jane Johnson for the Stay at Home Shopper at The Wild Project in the East Village. Not only will you satisfy that inner shopper hiding in us all, but you’ll get to say you were at this limited run performance! The two-person play was written by comics Shane O’Neill (Joe’s Pub/UCB house team Character’s Welcome) and Jill Pangallo (Joe’s Pub/S.U.C.K. Stand-Up Comedy Klub) who play best friends and crafting entrepreneurs Jane Johnson and Pam Weldon.
These down and out friends from childhood get into the small accessories business when Jane’s husband dies suddenly and Pam’s hubbie leaves her for another gal. They soon become a multi-million-dollar empire selling banana clips in the small town of Mishepaqueniquamowoc, Wisconsin. With success comes selling your wares on a QVC like Stay at Home Shopper network to your “Clipperchicks” fan base. Expect original songs co-created by O’Neill, Pangallo, and musician/composer Lori Scacco (Joyce Theater/ Harvestworks), calls from viewers at home, and an assertive marketing technique like no other!
The supporting cast is led by Obie award-winning artist Mx Justin Vivian Bond (Tony Nominated for Kiki & Herb: Alive on Broadway). The rest of the cast includes Sandy Honig, Max Bernstein, Heather Litteer, Joanna Choy, Kourtni Beebe and Rasheda Crockett. Woohoo! As Jane would say, “Little Turtle, it’s time to come out of that shell!” and buy some tickets! See show dates and info below.
