The most powerful form of comedy is when it turns a very human, sometimes painful experience into a teaching and healing moment for the audience and the performer. I mean just think about the impact Tig Notaro’s “annus horribilis” and Maria Bamford’s mental health journey have had on the public. Not only have exposing those experiences in a humorous light brought closure to the performers, but they’ve brought subjects like breast cancer, manic depression, dealing with the death of a loved one and more into conversations that might not have happened otherwise. This Thursday, March 9th at UCB Franklin, longtime UCBT performers John Murray (Difficult People, Broad City) and Silvija Ozols (The Stepfathers) bring you their cathartic, critically-acclaimed show that deals with their real-life experience with infertility. Infertile: A Sketch Comedy Show, brings a bit of humor to those issues that infertile couples must face on their journey to pregnancy. This show gives the audience some insight into everything from dealing with doctors to handling those “smug fertile couples.” If you’ve had a similar ordeal or just want some funny insight into this real world issue, you should definitely check out the show! GO!
