Everyone has a new hire horror story, right? I can’t help but chuckle when I remember that job where the co-workers were so oppositional to the new kid on the block daily solo power lunches seemed the most obvious safe space. Did a certain person eventually quit from frustration? Only after years of torture which is why I had to laugh aloud after watching the brand new comedy serial AdFirm. The series, produced, written and directed by Jeremy Morris-Burke, tells the story of the ultimate high achiever trying her best to figure out her role at a failing Brooklyn tech startup. Did we mention the company really needs any pitch to survive and is being infiltrated by a shaman spirit-brew syndicate (headed up by Greg Barris)? Our corporate cast of characters includes: CHASEY (Allegra Edwards), the misconstrued Columbia graduate with an MBA in Client Relations & Psychology of Business; the office manager MARNI (Vanessa Burke), a prickly personality with a human size safe in her office; BEN (Eric T. Miller) and DIRK (Andy Scneeflock), two creatives who idle away the time with gaming and utter nonsense; CHAZ (Gregory Lay), the absentee heir to the company fortune who hired Chasey; and, last but not least, the GURU (Greg Barris), the MyShaman courier who’s more than just the mysterious delivery guy. Will Chasey be able to fit into the discouraging, oppositional environment of Belfrin Digital Marketing Technologies? Find out by watching the first three episodes of the series!
