Happy Halloween, everyone! Bing Bong Industries, who’s work we’ve featured before, will be presenting “a night of mayhem” Sunday, November 6th at Wərk gallery in Los Angeles. What does that mean exactly? This event will be the first L.A. screening of Bronx based artist Mike Apichella’s cinematic debut inspired by the multi-media arts collective Human Host. In addition to work as a filmmaker, musician, writer, and multi-media artist, Apichella has been part of The Special Without Brett Davis, produced by comedian Chris Gethard. The Human Host Movie is a combination of “a melange of satire, 80’s music video aesthetics, digital glitches, anti-imperialism, and hallucinogenic frenzy.” In other words, think of something you’d see in a Grimy Ghost slideshow but on acid. Student of the Upright Citizen’s Brigade, Lorraine DeGraffenreidt, is the chief editor on the film and will also be performing with other L.A. comedians in a piece created specially for the event. The film has been screened in the northeast and mid Atlantic coast regions of the U.S. The November event will make the picture’s WEST COAST debut. So if you are in for a weird and wild night, don’t miss out on this humorous and bizarre event.
