You might recall we talked about THE GROSSMALERMAN! SHOW before. The series takes a deeply satirical look at the contemporary art world, one filled with unprincipled art collectors, vindictive art critics and general mindless decadence. In the series, the once great artist Jonathan Grossmalerman is offered the exhibition of his dreams. The only problem is he can’t exhibit the uncensored paintings that fueled his career. To add to this predicament Grossmalerman is weighted down with events that involve the haunted Basquiat painting his girlfriend brought home, an estranged daughter who unexpectedly moves in, and a studio assistant’s deficient bookkeeping skills. Artillery Magazine will be presenting a screening of the 5-episode sitcom web series with NYC artist and art-world satirist, GUY RICHARDS SMIT, Tuesday, November 11th at The Ace Hotel in Los Angeles. There will also be a Q&A with the creator and star of the series, Smit, co-star and performance artist, JIBZ CAMERON (Dynasty Handbag), and art critic Ezrha Jean Black. The series is directed by Joshua White, (director of episodes of Seinfeld & The Max Headroom Show) and the series cast includes New York performers like Jenn Harris (Silence! The Musical), Neal Medlyn (Champagne Jerry), Ana Matronic (Scissor Sisters), Carmine Covelli (The Julie Ruin), Vinny Lopez (Two JasperJohns) and Sadie Parker. Don’t miss out on this funny and illuminating event!
