With the rise of social media, inexpensive filmmaking and, of course, crowd-funding, indie film is once again rearing it’s glorious head from the endertainment depths (yes, that includes comedy). This makes it the best time to give these films just the support they need to rival mainstream flicks. Cinephile, comedian, writer, host and general renaissance man, Chris Gore, has been helping bolster indie ventures via Film Threat for a generous portion of his career. Chris would like to bring back his fanzine turned well respected website FilmThreat.com to once again champion independent works with fiery, literary gusto.
You might remember last year Gore launched a Kickstarter to revive the site but, unfortunately, it didn’t quite reach it’s funding mark. After valuable lessons learned and much encouragement from indie devotees Gore is at again. This time the goal is to raise $37.5K to relaunch the site with funds being budgeted to pay programmers and designers, purchase a new server for the editorial team, plus cover the costs of a new podcast and app (for IOS & Android). FilmThreat mag was first published in 1985 and the web site launched in 1996. 30 years worth of content costs some serious money to catalog, redesign and reformat. If the new Kickstarter goal isn’t reached Gore will have to shut the website down. That means ALL that amazing cinematic coverage will disappear from the net forever. Yes, you read that right. Don’t let Chris’ baby die!!! Support this crowd-funding venture today. There are worthwhile rewards awaiting your kind generosity! Find out more in this handy video:
