Just when you thought you’d listened to all the comedy albums in the world, there’s another great one lying in wait. Alright, this album is already out in wide release (and has been a Netflix special) but you must still listen! The comedian responsible for this work is a New York Times Bestselling author and long time writer/round table guest on Chelsea Lately JEN KIRKMAN. The female go-getter has appeared on programs like Drunk History, @midnight, CONAN, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. She can also multitask like nobody’s business, ie. doing interviews while driving. Yep, she’s amazing! The album, contains material from the her Netflix special of the same name and is Kirkman’s third (counting is hard). I think Jen teases I Am Gonna Die Alone (And I Feel Fine) best when she says:
It’s a thing people would say to me when I tell them I don’t have kids. They say “You’re gonna die alone.” The (darkly) funny thing is – I grew up surrounded by old women in my neighborhood who were widowed, and their kids were grown up, and life just took them all on it’s own terms, in their beds or often kitchen floors. See? You don’t always get to pick when you go. ISN’T THAT FUNNY? It is when I talk about it.
Hey, everyone dies alone in the end, so you might as well be successful first, right?! With tracks like “No One’s Wedding is Fun” and “Wine Collection,” how could you go wrong picking this gem up? DO IT!
Mentions: Pick up the album on iTunes & Bandcamp. Yay, Rooftop Records! Find out what Jen’s been doing lately HERE. Also, check out her weekly podcast I Seem Fun: The Diary of Jen Kirkman, which has had the privilege being in the top 100 in comedy on iTunes.
