You know him as the band manager Murray Hewitt from HBO’s Flight of the Conchords, the werewolf Anton in What We Do In The Shadow and that quirky were-monster in The X-Files. Long before he was a familiar face, Rhys Darby, the New Zealand actor/comedian, was performing with his pal Grant Lobban (Short Poppies) as the comedy duo, Rhysently Granted. The musical comedy twosome was formed in 1996 in Christchurch, New Zealand. According to the all-knowing Wikipedia, “a Rhysently Granted performance would consist of slightly absurdist but humorous songs which were interspersed with surrealistic skits, usually enhanced by Grant’s abstract poetry and Rhys’ vocal sound effects.” Intriguing, yes? Well, they’re back! It’s been 20 years since their first gig and the two will be hitting the Westside Comedy stage Wednesday, March 30th! We can’t wait!
