Project UROK (“You are OK”) is an organization you need to know about. The nonprofit’s goal is to help teenagers struggling with mental health issues through the power of funny, meaningful videos made by folks who have fought through the same issues. The site was founded by Jenny Jaffe of CollegeHumor. Project UROK hopes to be a comprehensive and interactive source of teen mental health resources. Users are encouraged to upload their own videos and share experiences on UROK message boards. Several members of the comedy community have already contributed to the project. They include Brennan Lee Mulligan (UCB), Sam Reid (Above Average), Giulia Rozzi (Girl Code), Myq Kaplan (Conan), David Bluvband (Broad City) and more. Watch some of their first-person accounts of dealing with mental health issues and how they’ve successfully worked through the challenges.
