Let’s make this a Flashback Friday!!! Comedy Cake chose @feral (aka Megan Beth Koester) for its Sweet Tweets pick today. You’ll notice the string of “Kiss My Grits” themed tweets on her Twitter feed this week. We (me, myself and I) thought a tribute to one of TV’s classic sitcoms, Alice, was in order. For those of you too young to recall, the show was inspired by Scorsese’s “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.” Much like the movie, the TV program focuses on a widow who moves West with her son to start a new life and finds work as a waitress at a roadside eatery, Mel’s Diner, while she pursues a singing career. The most memorable scenes from the sitcom revolved around the interactions between the often stingy and slightly uncouth Mel (Vic Tayback) and waitresses Alice (Linda Lavin), Vera (Beth Howland), and Flo (Polly Holliday). Let’s reminisce with some clips.
