Per Deadline, John Candy’s classic part as a bumbling uncle/sitter is being reprised with MIKE EPPS (AOL Originals series That’s Racist, Starz Survivor’s Remorse, The Hangover) in the lead role. The new Uncle Buck series was written by Steven Craig and Brian Bradley and will re-tell the tale of Buck Russell, a childish adult who learns some valuable life skills taking caring of his brother Will’s children. The John Hughes movie was made into a TV series before in the 1990s with Kevin Meaney as the lead. The ABC remake will feature the franchise with African American actors as leads, taking the series in a refreshing direction. Nia Long (House of Lies) has been cast as Will’s wife in the pilot.
