If I was pitted against ANDY WOODHULL on that program where comics compete to make each other laugh without laughing themselves, I’d wave the white flag immediately! From the start of Andy’s new comedy special BEACH BRAIN, you are innocently lured in by the carb-heavy indulgence of dipping fried ranch dressing IN ranch dressing, and end up down a rabbit hole of observations and experiences that are pure rock candy for the brain. Don’t believe me? I’ve included video evidence below.
The name of the special Beach Brain was inspired by fellow comedian Dave Waite who joked that Andy (originally from Elkhart, Indiana) developed a perpetually positive attitude after moving by the beach. And that attitude has only enhanced his comedic skills. The hour of comedy was crafted during one of the happiest periods of Andy’s life, and features his signature style of clean humor with a sharp edge, while adding a Beach Brained optimistic spin. Woodhull tackles unassuming topics with ease like cookies by the bucket, sword as gifts, penguin danger, spousal location tracking, and what may be the most hauntingly hilarious concept, once introduced to the comic by some fans after a show. Andy still has as much fun on stage as he did at his first open mic in 2003. AND it totally shows! His passion is contagious (and Andy’s peers could learn a thing or two).
The Los Angeles-based stand-up comedian, writer, and television host was the first comedian to make his network television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He has also appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Conan, Live at Gotham, and Comedy Central. He has written for SYFY’s The Movie Show, was featured in two episodes, and currently hosts Totally Funny Animals on the CW Network. His jokes have played over 50 million times on Pandora and are on rotation on Sirius Radio. His DryBar comedy special on YouTube has over 12 million views. Talk about some totally humble brag worthy stats!
Andy Woodhull’s seventh comedy album, Beach Brain, is available everywhere comedy is streamed or sold. Grab some milk and cookies, and indulge in a silly, laugh-inducing exercise, for once.
