This Friday October 18th, QED Presents Nonye Brown-West and Lizzie Martinez where each will perform a half hour set of standup. Nonye is a New York based Nigerian-American comedian, actor, and writer working theaters, clubs and colleges. She’s featured for Zainab Johnson, Gina Yashere, Michael Ian Black, Ms. Pat, Kurt Braunohler on the road, and Marina Franklin at the Comedy Cellar. She co-produces Savage Comedy at Logan’s Run in Brooklyn, New York. She’s been featured in the Boston Globe’s Rise column as a Comic to Watch and on Sway In The Morning as a part of the New York Comedy Festival. You also may have heard her on NPR, Marina Franklin’s Friends Like Us Podcast, or you may have seen her on Cityline on ABC Boston.
Originally from Oakland, California, Lizzie is a stand-up comedian and writer based in Brooklyn. She is a Headline Contributor for The Onion, and has written for Funny or Die. She co-created and starred in the web series Throwback, which was named one of the 10 Best Comedy Web Series of the year by Paste Magazine. She currently co-produces Savage, a weekly show which was recently named one of the Best Alt-Comedy Shows in Brooklyn by Vulture. Lizziedoes stand-up all over NYC and has performed/produced shows at venues like UCB, the Bell House, New York Comedy Club, Union Hall, and Caveat, and on shows like Butterboy, Caroline’s Comedy Madness (semi-finalist), Comedians You Should Know, Good Heroin, and Reductress Live, as well as on special showcases for Comedy Central and The Onion/AV Club.
