LAURA MERLI is an NYC-based standup, actress, and writer who has always managed to make yours truly laugh heartily. I will bet good Monopoly money she’ll make you hee-hee too! Merli has amassed over 2 million likes on TikTok, appeared in the New York Comedy festival, the Women in Comedy Festival, and was the first runner up in The Ladies of Laughter stand up competition. She hosts the Good Girl stand up show at one of the hottest alt-comedy spots in Brooklyn, Friends & Lovers. Plus, she’s also performed at top-tier venues across the city including The Bell House, Littlefield, Caveat, and more! Did we mention Merli has written for and acted on sketch house teams at the PIT and Improv Boston? She’s also been a contributor to Reductress, The Hard Times, and McSweeney’s. What can she NOT do?!
THIS Thursday, April 18th, you can see her record her FIRST comedy special. Laura is known for set-up/punch-line jokes and one-liners, and that deadpan wit does not disappoint. Unsurprisingly, Merli admires and is influenced by gods of comedy, Mitch Hedberg and Maria Bamford. Her comedy style allows her to cover tons of ground including drugs, sex, family/childhood, her ADHD/autism, and asking her adorable dog world-changing questions. Merli’s humor always seems to capture the awkwardness and absurdity of being alive, which makes her humor all the more endearing. Don’t miss this chance to catch her at the Flop House Comedy Club in Brooklyn (hosted by Sheria Mattis, with opener Clara Oshansky)!
