A showcase of the best of Japanese pop culture in the biggest city in America comes to Javits Center this weekend. So, it’s no surprise then that Anime NYC should REQUIRE some comedy/nerd adjacent entertainment to accompany it. Tomorrow, November 17th, join Who’s That Pokémon Pod LIVE! at City Vineyard. Comedy, anime fans, and the insanely curious can look forward to an evening featuring two comedians meticulously debating the nuances of every – single- POKÉMON. You read that properly. In addition, there will be a debut of original songs from the new anime parody musical: BALLS: the Monster-Catchin’ Musical Comédy, as well as this stacked lineup of NY’s finest comedians and musical theatre performers:
Brielle DeMirjian (UCB, Daily Show)
Brandon Zelman (Cat in the Hat Podcast on Wondery, Who’s That Pokémon Podcast)
Harrison Bryan (Hanukkah Carol, BALLS: the Musical)
Joriah Kwamé (Lyle Lyle Crocodile, Little Miss Perfect, Dreamworks’ Trolls The Musical Jr.)
You can just feel the Pokémania building. PLUS, there will be exclusive video calls with Stuart Zagnit, the original voice of PROFESSOR OAK, who gave advice to Ash Ketchum in the anime to help him achieve his goal of becoming the greatest Pokémon Master (or so they tell me). I heard a “squee” there. Come join enjoy the interactive fun! Of course, this show is no way affiliated with the actual Pokémon company. Now go catch ’em all!’
