VOCABARET is back in action this Friday, September 9th with a PUNCTU-A-THON! Wow, will that require me breaking a sweat? Lucky for you, it will only require your undivided attention, and willingness to both learn and laugh. If you weren’t familiar, Vocabaret features “NYC’s most decorated wordsmiths hosting a night of raucous wordplay, etymological deep dives, and alphabetic absurdity while exploring the links between language and our daily lives.” This go-round, things will get even more “symbolic” as the gang ( Sam Corbin, Tim Donnelly, Jerzy Gwiazdowski, Ally Spier, and Nikolai Vanyo) delivers a performance about all things PUNCTUATION (or interpunction if you are fancy). The evening will culminate in an audience vote to determine the ultimate symbolic champion. So if you go ga-ga for commas, parentheses, quotation marks, periods… oh wait, I already said period. OK, end stop. Don’t miss out on this exploration of all those written devices that we just can’t live without.
