Did you know that the term ‘The Rat Pack’ included several decades of A-list show biz friends? A subsequent iteration of the informal group of entertainers was famed for their appearance in the 1960’s American heist film Ocean’s 11. That film would go on to serve as inspiration for those Steven Soderbergh produced 2000s Ocean’s films (we’ve probably all seen at some point, I can only hope). That particular Rat Pack group of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop, was an informal group of Las Vegas entertainers who’s posthumous fame has lingered to this day. The 60s Rat Pack may no longer be with us, but Sunday, May 29th at The Hollywood Improv, their spirits will come to life once again (with a twist).
Swing into Summer with The Rat Pack, 80’s Style will feature KROQ personality, comedian, and podcaster, Ralph Garman, taking the role of 60s Rat Pack leader, Frank Sinatra, in a throwback variety show set in 1986. The variety show will feature veteran touring comedians Kira Soltanovich and Eddie Pence; Acme Comedy Theatre alums, Antoinette Spolar as Liza Minelli, Ted Hardwick of the Les Stevens Show, and Pete Handelman, as Pedro Pe; plus Charlie Kogen, Christian Malmin, Erin Carrera and Aaron Steinberg, and emerging standup comic, Zach Vandegrift, ALL produced by Cathy Carlson! Don’t miss this sure-to-be hilarious event with Rat Pack cred and 80s nostalgia!
