Creator of the hit comedy show “Funny Women of a Certain Age,” Carole Montgomery, will host an “outrageous comedic evening of standup, dance, music, and clowning” to benefit the people of Ukraine via the Ukranian Congress Committee of America (UCCA). The Kraine for Ukraine event will be held live in-person TOMORROW, March 15th, at the Kraine Theatre, one of the most well known downtown venues featuring Off and Off-Off Broadway productions year round. The event will also be available via livestream for those unable to attend in propria persona! The event is a production of Peter Michael Marino (“Planet of the Grapes,” “Show Up, Kids!”) and will include performances by:
Paul Valenti (NBC’s “Bring the Funny” Finalist)
Linette Palladino (HBO)
Mariko Iwasa (Ringling Brothers Circus)
Calvin Cato (Vice Media & Netflix)
AJ Silver “A Cowboy From The Bronx”
Jim Mendrinos (Amazon Prime)
Tyler West (Bindlestiff Family Circus, Slipper Room)
with more to join!
This will be an evening of caring, sharing and, of course, laughter, including a special video message from Alex Borovenskiy and the company of ProEnglish Theatre – an artistic shelter, performance venue and theater school based in Ukraine. Says Borovenskiy “This is the time for artists to document what is happening so it never happens again. Yes, even though we are sheltering at the theatre. And yes, we are at war. But our message can still be hopeful and funny.” May hope spring eternal!
Mentions: 90min in-person show/livestream 7:30pm ET. Tickets $25 (sliding scale). Location: The Kraine, 85 E 4th St (off 2nd Ave). More about UCCA THERE.
