From the surreal comedy mind of Young Southpaw comes an inquisitive, celebratory video that combines the “monkey typewriter theorem,” Shakespeare’s folks, and subjects you probably haven’t thought about since high school. “Infinite Shakespeare,” features music by The Séance (Pete Wiggs from one of Southpaw’s all-time favourite bands, Saint Etienne, and James Papademetrie), and imagines a Matrix-like choice the English playwright, poet, and actor’s parents might have had to grabble with considering the theory… that if a large number of monkeys were given typewriters and a suitably ample amount if time, they could write the works of some random famous writer. In the process of considering the possibilities, Young Southpaw takes into account writing implements of the period, the Planet of The Apes like advancement of said monkeys lending their talents to television writing, a “Shröedinger’s orangutan” thought experiment, and so much more. Of course, if we think REAL hard about the superposition of objects, perhaps it’s possible BOTH options could exist in such a universe! Blow your mind a bit more with the NEW video below:
