Juno Award winning, Canadian comedian and star on Hulu’s Ramy, DAVE MEHEJE, will tape a stand-up special at Just For Laughs Montréal for CTV Comedy and Crave, filmed in front of a live audience in Montreal over two shows in July at L’Astral. In the comedy special, Dave will talk about growing up in Windsor with his Lebanese family, and his experience going to therapy, a practice that is not really a thing in the culture. The “brand new, original comedy special” will be part of a series featuring some of the country’s best working comedians. It is due to air on CTV Comedy Channel at a later date.
Merheje will also host the New Faces: Canada showcase, featuring the freshest Canadian comedians in the game. The comic won the Just For Laughs Homegrown Competition in 2011, which then morphed into the News Face: Canada showcase in 2019. The New Faces: Canada 2021 showcase will be performed for a live audience in Montreal and will be available to view online with a ComedyPRO pass.
Merheje began performing comedy in the Windsor-Detroit area, and has since performed comedy at venues including Just For Laughs, the Halifax Comedy Festival, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. His comedy album Good Friend Bad Grammar won the Juno Award for Comedy Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2019. And that same year, he portrayed the role of Ahmed on the Hulu comedy series Ramy. Merheje’s most recent comedy special, Beautifully Manic, can be seen on Netflix as part of Comedians of the World. More info below.
