Hindsight may be 20/20, but 2020 is a sight you want to leave be-HIND. Anyone? Anyone? *Insert horrified confusion face here* Last October Comedian BLAKE WEXLER (Todd Glass Show, Key & Peele, Review with Forrest MacNeil) accidentally recorded his third stand-up comedy album right before outdoor stand-up performances were a luxury or outright banned. The good old days! Live from The Pandemic was performed by The Philly native outside of Steel Stacks in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Blake suspected this live performance would be his last 2020 show, so he figured he’d be recording it for sentimental reasons. However, the performance came out so well, he decided to share it with the world this year.
In addition to a bunch of previously unreleased non-COVID material, this album treats the listener to humor about the pandemic during the pandemic. It’s all the “in-the-moment” realization you desire without the well-informed post-pandemic clarity. Per Wexler “Since I wasn’t aware that this was an album recording, it’s really loose and a great depiction of me at my funniest.” You know it’s going to be an awesome set when the comic starts the album searching for his mic, which was in his pocket all along. See! Performers having to use separate mics can be a gold mine (for a performer dong standup outside an 1800s steel plant). We have for you an EXCLUSIVE video track of the album recording where Wexler discusses how very wrong a date can go when the person you’re with isn’t appreciative of your sense of humor. It may even be more important than keeping the halitosis at bay. Enjoy “Bombing on A First Date” now!
